Abstract

[EN] This doctoral dissertation provides a synthetic view on the vegetation history, the anthropogenic dynamic and the environmental change during the last 8000 years of a very specific area in the Ebro Valley, province of Alava, located in the watershed between the Cantabrian-Mediterranean and the Ebro River basin. We have use a paleoenvironmental tool of great interest in order to get this information, such as the study of pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs preserved in several sedimentary deposits with different chronologies (archaeological sites and mires), with the purpose of providing data and reflections about various historical issues. Special attention is paid on the way past inhabitants modified the landscape, according to the different productive activities they developed.
