Abstract

[ES] En la costa noroccidental de Africa se encuentra uno de los afloramientos oceánicos más importantes que dan origen a una alta producción planctónica que sostiene una pesquería de gran rendimiento. Aunque ya hay bastantes trabajos y publicaciones acerca de esta zona, son todavía insuficientes para conocer su mecanismo así como también su estructura, dada su gran variabilidad en el tiempo. Una visión general de la región y de los conocimientos que se tienen de ella hasta 1968 está resumida en la publicación de ALLAIN (1970a), y una descripción clara del afloramiento así como su importancia en la repercusión biológica se encuentra en la publicación de MARGALEF (1971). En la presente comunicación se estudian los datos químicos obtenidos a bordo del B/O "Cornide de Saavedra" en la expedición "Sahara II" que abarca la zona comprendida entre la costa y 24º W y desde un poco más al norte de Cabo Verde, paralelo 16º N hasta el golfo de Cintra, 23º N, con tres estaciones adicionales hasta la altura de cabo Bojador (fig. 1). El total de estaciones fue muestreado entre el 18 de agosto y el 18 de septiembre en 1971
