Composición química elemental del plancton marino

Abstract

[EN] Carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and phosphorus determinations have been made and oxygen has been calculated in samples of plankton. The different species present in the samples have been identified and counted, then their volumes have been calculated. In addition to this, detritus percentage in the samples was estimated by volumetric calculations starting from counts and measurements of the particles. The atomic ratios, C:H:O:N:P for total plankton and for phytoplankton, zooplankton and detritus samples are given, taking into account the largest proportion of each component in the samples. The chemical composition of the detritus is compared with that of bacteria and a clear correspondence is found
