Cefalópodos de Somalia

Abstract

[EN] This paper provides an updated checklist of the cephalopods in Somalian waters. Material collected in the oceanographic cruise Geminis during 1991 and a collection of cites taken from the literature have been used to prepare this catalogue. A total of 94 species belonging to 26 families and three orders: Sepioidea (14), Teuthoidea (54) and Octopoda (26) are catalogued. Sepiola steenstrupiana is recorded for the first time in the Indian Ocean. Its represent the first case of cephalopod lessepsian migration from Mediterranean to Indian Ocean. The geographic range for Sepia pharaonis and Sepioteuthis fessoniana must be extended to Southern Somalian waters. Sepia acuminata, Loligo singhalensis, Moroteuthis loenbergi and Octopus kagoshimensis are recorded for the first time in Somalian waters. 0. kagoshimensis is shortly described and compared with other members of the Octopus aegina species-group Robson, 1929
