Abstract

[EN]: In an experimental field of olive trees (variety «zorzaleño») near Sevilla, the following optimum nutrient balance has been found after a seves year period: N - 10P - K equil.: 50%; 27%; 23% K - Ca - Mg equil.: 31%; 58%; 11% The yield is highly influenced by nitrogen fertilization, by both the amount of nitrogen and the time of application. An early use of nitrogen has been found advantageous. Out of the different periods of application, from February to April, the most convenient was that corresponding to the 2nd. fortnight of February. A close correlation between the nutrient condition of plants, represented by the nutrient ratio, and yields has also been found. Low or scarce production was always related to trees showing a nutrient unbalance with high Ca/K ratio. The improvement of the balance also contributes to the regularization of yield .
