[EN] This work is a concise exposition of the authors' fertility study of Pontevedra province, in the northwest part of Spain. The climate is temperature-humid; the parent rocks mainly granitics, and most of the sample soils are of the brown-earth type. In general, soils are acids, strongly so in the inner part of the province, where their organic matter contents are really high. The poor mineralization is show for the carbon/nitrogen ratio values. Soils textures are mostly sandy-loam and the finest of them are in the northeast region. The values obtained for the exchange capacity (1from medium to high) are related with those of clay and organic matter. Also is studied the relation between the phosphorus fractions solubles in the reagents «Morgam and «Bray 2». In both cases were obtained relation coefficients of high level of significance. The degree of bases saturation is low, in good agreement with the figures found for potassium, calcium and magnesium. The values for phosphorus -strongly influenced by pH- are, in general, low; and those obtained for Mg, Mn and Fe lie in the border (even lower) of cultures maintenances needs. From the results it is clear the need of correcting soils reaction and from the actual nutritional elements contents of the soils and its edaphic properties, appears clear the possibility of improving their nutritional level with resu1ting increase in productivity. Higher yields of the actual cultures should be obtainable by strongest fertilization of nitrogen compounds.
