Abstract

[EN] In the present paper 22 specimens of different species of the genus Bathypolypus caught of the Galician coast (NW Spain) were studied. This genus is for the first time gnoted for this area. Fourteen individuals were identified as belonging to B. sponsalis; three were classified as B. arcticus, and another three as Bathypotypus sp tipe A (B. proschi?) and finally two of them could not be assigned to any one of the before said species. Due to the fact that both species -B. sponsalis and arcticus- appear together in this area, which has never been observed before, it may be possible to assume that the Galician coast is the geographic boundary of the general area of distribution for both species. [ES] En el transcurso de las operaciones que dentro del plan de investigación pesquera de la plataforma gallega realiza la Sección de pesquerías del Laboratorio de Vigo del Instituto de Investigaciones Pesqueras, aparecieron esporádicamente algunos ejemplares de un pequeño Octópodo de profundidad que, en un principio, presentó dificultades para su clasificación. Aprovechando que en una de las últimas operaciones aparecieron once ejemplares, hemos emprendido el estudio sistemático de este grupo, llegando a la conclusión de que se trata de un complejo de especies del género Bathypolypus el cual no había sido citado en estas costas anteriormente.
