The privileged conditions of the Canary Archipelago as a port of call in the early days of sailing to and from the North Atlantic also led to numerous shipments to the Caribbean. And, in the case of purely scientific expeditions, we also have the example of Humboldt’s call at Tenerife on his way to South America that radically changed the previously fixed theories involving Natural History.

Se destacan las privilegiadas condiciones del archipiélago canario como escala para la circunnavegación a vela del atlántico norte, lo que conllevó el paso de innumerables expediciones a Indias. En las de carácter científico el paso de Humboldt por Tenerife camino de Sudamérica produjo efectos que cambiaron radicalmente las ideas universales en la Historia Natural.
