Arqueología en el Estuario del Muni (Guinea Ecuatorial)

Abstract

[EN] In January and February 2011 the first season of excavations was carried out in a funerary area from the Early Iron Age in the island of Corisco. The archaeological works discovered the largest prehistoric cemetery known to date in West-Central Africa. One of the most interesting features is a ritual change documented around the mid-1st millennium AD. The burials yielded plenty of artefacts, including many axes, necklaces, bracelets and iron currency units.
