La salud de las web universitarias españolas

Abstract

La web se ha convertido en una importante herramienta para las universidades, donde se utiliza en una amplia variedad de formas, tales como publicar y diseminar actividades y resultados de investigación, proporcionar información administrativa y académica de interés para los estudiantes o facilitar la colaboración con otras instituciones nacionales e internacionales. Pero, ¿cómo están realmente utilizando la Web las universidades españolas y qué información se puede obtener sobre sus modos de comunicación en línea a través del estudio de los enlaces web?. Para obtener respuestas se han investigado 64 sedes Web de universidades utilizando un robot especializado, analizando posteriormente los datos obtenidos. Existe una gran variedad en el tamaño de las sedes universitarias, que reciben enlaces externos de otras en proporción aproximada al tamaño de sus sedes. Aunque la Web académica española se situó por detrás de los cuatro países con las que se comparó, la mayoría de los enlaces que recibe provienen de dominios nacionales e internacionales de países no hispanohablantes lo que indica un amplio impacto internacional y un elevado grado de multilingüismo por parte de los autores de las web. Las páginas más enlazadas son mayormente aquellas que atraen enlaces generados automáticamente, con la sorprendente inclusión de algunos organismos gubernamentales.
