System for improving the dynamic range and reducing measurement uncertainty in fibre optic distributed sensors and fibre optic distributed measurement equipment

Abstract

[ES] Basado en amplificación distribuida mediante efecto Raman, consistente en uno o más láseres (5) de bombeo a diversas longitudes de onda, combinados con un número variable de reflectores (6) en fibra óptica. Con estos elementos se consigue inducir en la fibra óptica sensora (4) u objeto de medida las condiciones necesarias para la propagación de las señales del sensor o del equipo de medida en régimen de transparencia virtual, mejorando la relación señal-ruido en la señal del sensor y equipo de medida, mejorando el rango dinámico y aumentando la longitud de alcance del sensor o equipo de medida en hasta 250 km.

[EN] Based on distributed amplification by the Raman effect, the system comprises one or more pump lasers (5) at various wavelengths, combined with a variable number offibre optic reílectors (6). These elements induce in the fibre optic sensor (4) or measurement object the conditions necessary for the propagation ofthe signals ofthe sensor or the measurement equipment in virtual transparency mode, improving the signal-to-noise ratio in the signal of the sensor and measurement equipment, improving the dynamic range and increasing the range of the sensor or measurement equipment by up to 250 km.
