Actualización de parámetros poblacionales de Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) procedente de aguas mauritanas (Clupeidae, Clupeiformes)

Abstract

El 30% de la captura realizada en aguas de Mauritania por la flota industrial europea de arrastre pelágico se descarga en el puerto español de la Luz y de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (islas Canarias). La actividad de estos barcos está orientada a los peces pequeños pelágicos, principalmente a sardina (Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792)), alacha (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847), machuelo (Sardinella maderensis (Lowe, 1838)), chicharros (Trachurus spp.) y caballa (Scomber colias Gmelin, 1789). Dada la importancia de las mencionadas descargas, en el año 2003, el Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) —a través de su Centro Oceanográfico de Canarias (COC)— inició el seguimiento de esta flota en el marco del proyecto europeo Data Collection (Reglamento (EC) 1543/2000). Además de la información biológica obtenida entre 2004 y 2011 a partir de 41 959 ejemplares de Sardina pilchardus de Mauritania, en 2010 y 2011 se llevó a cabo una actualización de sus parámetros de crecimiento.
