Eurípides tiende a utilizar en sus tragedias adjetivos compuestos que están cargados de significado pero, en ocasiones, dado que los lexemas que los componen pueden tener distintos sentidos, resulta difícil interpretarlos determinando todos aquellos matices que pueden implicar y que resulta importante conocer y plasmar en la traducción, en la medida de lo posible. Este trabajo se ocupa de dos de ellos que aparecen en Bacantes y sobre cuya traducción e interpretación no hay acuerdo entre los estudiosos: ἡλιόβλητος y οἰνωπός.
