Abstract

Tradicionalmente se ha considerado que los valores no cognitivos (políticos, de clase, religiosos, etc.) influyen negativamente en la ciencia. Desde el feminismo se han criticado especialmente los sesgos y prejuicios de género. Sin embargo, las personas dedicadas a la ciencia no están aisladas, sino que desarrollan su actividad en un contexto sociohistórico concreto. Como tales, pueden pertenecer a distintas comunidades: aquella científica en cuyo paradigma han sido educadas, pero también a otras: religiosas, políticas, etc. En este trabajo muestro, con tres ejemplos, como la pertenencia a una de estas comunidades y sus valores no cognitivos, en este caso la comunidad sociopolítica como la feminista, puede contribuir a reevaluar la evidencia disponible y mejorar nuestras hipótesis y teorías, desafiando viejos —y nuevos— prejuicios.
