Abstract

[EN] In order to meet the reproductive management milking sheep farms in Leon province conducted a survey to 104 farms, which were analyzed the effect of the number of lambintime per year (1-5) on the productive results and the extent of use of reproductive techniques. The most intensive reproductive farms are those with larger flock size and younger owners. Milk production per ewe and year statistically significantly increases when the reproductive intensity did. Differences in ewe lambs sold were not statistically significant between farms with different number of lambing time/year. Hormonal methods and pregnancy diagnosis increase its use to make reproductive intensity. Very limited use of artificial insemination on the farm was found. A high% of farms are mating ewes in autumn and minority in the spring which affects both prices/unit sales and the marketability and distribution of milk and lambs.
