Estructura de las Sierras Tejeda y de Cómpeta (Conjunto Alpujárride, Cordilleras Béticas)

Abstract

[EN] The Tejeda and Competa Sierras belong to the Almijara Unit, within the Alpujarride Complex. The carbonate rocks of the stratigraphic sequence embrace from the Anisian to the Norian ages. These rocks present interbeded dark metapelites permitting a good reconstruction of the structure. Severa1 interlayered dark rnetapelite beds ease a fair reconstruction of the fold structure main features. In the whole these correspond to a south-faced big anticline, but in the detail many complications exist; more specially in the Sierra Tejeda where tectonic thinning and thickening processes had widespread development. Moreover, some significant, mainly dextral, strike-slip faults have noticeably disorganized the earlier structures.
