Se presenta un estudio sobre la etnotaxonomía y etnonomenclatura de los Quercus (Q. faginea subsp. faginea, Q. ilex subsp. ilex, Q. petraea, Q. pyrenaica, Q. robar) que viven en el S de Cantabria. Se ha desarrollado un abundante léxico en tomo a estas especies tan cotidianas, que sirve de ejemplo para estudiar la complejidad y riqueza de la nomenclatura popular. Se han recopilado 28 nombres vernáculos, variantes de 12 lexemas principales. Se han realizado mapas de distribución de los nombres recopilados que permiten delimitar zonas lingüísticas. Además se presenta un análisis de este rico léxico en el que se hace hincapié en su significado, muchas veces polisémico, etimología y distribución geográfica.
A survey of the Ethnotaxonomy en Ethonomenclature of southern Cantabria (Q. faginea subsp. faginea, Q. ilex subsp. ilex, Q. petraea, Q. pyrenaica, Q. robur) is presented. Am extensive vocabulary associataed with these popular species has been compiled. The analysis of this lexicon shows the richness and complexity of folk plant taxonomy and nomenclature. In total 28 vernaculkar names, which are different forms of 12 principal lexemes, have been compiled. Maps with the geographical distribution of the names let us delimit lingúistical areas. An analysis of this rich lexicon is also presented. The meaning of the names, often polisemic, their etymologies and geographical deistribution is studied.
