Se describen y sitúan taxonómicamente los restos de mastodontes de las localidades chilenas. Se identifica una sola forma: Cuvieronius hyodon (Fischer) para el Pleistoceno superior en Chile. Se analizan sus características y se comparan con aquellas de mastodontes de otras localidades de América del Sur. Asimismo se revisan consideraciones de tipo paleoecológico, y se discuten sus probables vías de migración desde el norte hacia el territorio chileno.
