Colecciones Biológicas de Referencia Instituto de Ciencias del Mar (CSIC) : Catálogo de peces (1982-1999)

Abstract

It contains information on the specimens deposited with referential character and proceeding, in general, from the ichtyological researches carried out by specialists from the Institute, although some of its specimens come from interchanges and donations. This catalogue includes the general list, taxonomically assorted, of all the catalogued specimens in the Collection with additional limited information: catalogue number, locallity of capture (latitude, longitude, depth, name and year), size and sex when available, and the type indication (Holotype and Paratype) when considered necessary. Presently the Collection is particularly rich in specimens from the Western Mediterranean (including depths down to 2,200 m.), Eastern Central Atlantic (Western Sahara and Guinea Bissau coasts), from the western and eastern shores of the South Atlantic (Beagle Channel and Namibia respectively), Western Indian Ocean (Mozambique and Somalia) and Central Eastern Pacific (New Caledonia, México and Chile), although other marine areas are equally represented. The intercharge of specimens is accomplished through and additional collection of duplicate specimens
