Abstract

[ES]: The ruins of the ancient town of Talavera la Vieja, currently under the Valdecañas reservoir (Cáceres), have offered in recent times lots of archaeological materials, some of them of great significance, from the Orientalizing Period (Early Iron Age). This fact led to formulate and execute two archaeological works with the aim of clarify the context of these findings and evaluate the archaeological characteristics of this site. Therefore, two campaigns of excavations and surveys were held in 2007 and 2009. They provide the discovery of an orientalizing settlement that had various stages of construction. This paper presents the evolution of the excavations and the first results on the settlement architecture.
