[EN] This article argues that the historical understanding of emotions, seen as cultural constructs, is a necessary though limited research program. Without detriment to the contribution that cultural history has made to the historical study of the emotional experiences of the past, this article attempts to go beyond the limits of contextual research and approach the relationship between emotions and social change following the independent research program developed by Peter N. Stearns and William M. Reddy.
