[EN] Net samples are not satisfactory for the study of phytoplankton, since more appropriate methods exist, but they can convey information about diversity of plakton communities. [ES] El uso de muestras pescadas con red para el estudio del fitoplancton está prácticamente superado. La insuficiencia demostrada de la red y la comodidad del procedimiento de sedimentación y recuento al microscopio invertido, han arrinconado casi al antiguo método. Sin embargo, las pescas de plancton superficial hechas con red fina, conservan cierto interés por permitir separar especies de gran tamaño y escasa densidad de población, que pueden tener interés taxonómico, ecológico o biogeográfico.
