Abstract

[ES] Relaciones entre los pólipos coloniales de los arrecifes y las zooxantelas.- El arrecife de coral, o sea la comunidad dominada por antozoos coloniales, junto con algunas algas y Millepora (hidrozoos), se cuenta entre los ecosistemas más vistosos e interesantes que ofrecen los mares cálidos. Los corales «hermatípicos», como se llama a los que constituyen arrecifes en aguas muy poco profundas, agrupan un conjunto de especies de madreporarios, alcionarios, zoantarios, todos ellos antozoos, y algunos hidrozoos (Millepora). En los pólipos se encuentran zooxantelas, algas endosimbiontes del grupo de las dinoflageladas, al parecer estrechamente relacionadas con los Gymnodinium [...]

[EN] Following Odum & Odum and others authors it is accepted that zooxanthellae play a very important role in the biology of the coral reefs. Hematypic "corals" are synthetic organisms comparable to lichens and requiring a stable environment. [...]
