[EN] Simultaneous Chlorophyll-a determinations, as measured by solvent extraction of phytoplankton filtrates followed by spectrophotometric evaluation, and "in vivo" fluorometer readings were obtained all along cruise SAHARA-I off NW Africa both at the surface and 20 meter deep. Assuming a linear relationship is justified by overall statistics given in Table I. Deviations from the average are detected but not justificable on the basis of statistics alone. Suggestions are made for minimization of experimental errors in order to enhance the effect of natural variations in the chorophyll/fluorescence relationship
