Abstract

[ES] Además de otros sondadores por eco, el "Cornide de Saavedra" lleva un sondador SIMRAD (Scientific Sounder EK) de 38 kHz. Este aparato ofrece la comodidad de poder ser acoplado a un integrador de ecos (Echo Integrator QMI). El equipo es apropiado para evaluar la masa de productores de eco, por lo menos de manera aproximada y relativa. Al emprender la campaña «Sahara II», nadie de nuestro grupo poseía experiencia personal adecuada sobre el uso del sonar en la estimación de poblaciones de animales pelágicos, ni tuvimos ocasión de realizar experiencias previas con el sondador. Decidimos, por tanto, dejar el aparato en funcionamiento continuo entre las estaciones, a lo largo de la ruta [...]
