Abstract

Los combates de Aboukir y Trafalgar esconden grandes carencias estructurales de la marina francesa en relación a su oficialidad, marinería y apoyo logístico. A pesar del gran esfuerzo napoleónico por dotar a su marina de los mejores medios —barcos, arsenales, prefecturas marítimas, etc.—, faltaba una oficialidad profesionalmente preparada y una marinería numerosa y entrenada. Las escuadras bloqueadas en sus puertos por los británicos, no pudieron realizar plenamente su función durante la guerra.
