[EN] Experimental nitrogen and/or phosphorus additions to Cymodocea nodosa (Ucria) Ascherson meadows on carbonate sands in the Mar Menor coastal lagoon (Murcia, SE Spain) showed that leaf growth was P-limited. Phosphorus additions caused increments in shoot biomass, surface, growth rate and, in some cases, P/B ratio. Both N and P leaf content increased in response to nutrient enrichment of sediment. Meadow shoot density only increased, what indicates enhanced rhizome growth and branching, in N+P fertilized plots. Additions of nitrogen and/or phosphorus to the sediment resulted in increases of the content of these elements in rhizomes and roots.
