[EN] The distribution of net phytoplankton and Tintinnids (organisms collected filtering 10-20 l of water through 40 um mesh netting) during three summer and late sping (July 1982, July 1983 and May 1984) cruises between Barcelona and Mallorca, was studied in relation to the marine front located between the Catalan coast and the Baiearic islands. Total population densities of phytoplankton were higher in coastal water and around the front, especially at depth, coinciding with the deep chlorophyil maximum.
