Abstract

The Fluid, Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Group (GREFEMA) of the University of Girona has a long experience in the study of thermoelectric generation. The group has proposed different solutions to be able to recover residual heat from the smoke exhaust of internal combustion engines. Some of these solutions have been built and tested in the test bench of the Thermal Engines laboratory of the Polytechnic School superior Automotive thermoelectric generators are placed in the exhaust pipe of an engine of internal combustion to transform part of the heat of the gases into electrical energy through the properties of thermoelectric materials, which generate a potential difference when are subjected to a temperature gradient. In order to maintain a good transfer of heat from the fumes to the thermoelectric modules, a system must be developed of absorber A heat sink with a lot of transfer area increases the heat absorbed but also the exhaust back pressure. Therefore, knowing how to choose the absorber of heat most suitable for the device is key to its viability. To carry out this research, it will be necessary to design and build a thermoelectric generator module that allows quickly and accurately test different types of absorber
