La desigualtat isoperimètrica

Abstract

Aquest document recull el fruit del treball de fi de grau, el qual té com a objectiu entendre i poder demostrar la desigualtat isoperimètrica. Per això, es fa una breu introducció per conèixer les arrels del problema. A continuació s’exposa una base teòrica sobre les integrals, amb les seves propietats i els coneixements per al càlcul d’àrees. Per acabar la secció dels preliminars, s’enuncia el teorema de Green amb un corol·lari clau per a la demostració de la desigualtat isoperimètrica. Finalment, s’exposa la desigualtat isoperimètrica i es presenten dues demostracions, una rigorosa proposada per E. Schmidt i l’altra amb idees geomètriques més intuïtives formulada per J. Steiner.

This document collects the result of the end-of-degree thesis, which aims to understand and be able to demonstrate the isoperimetric inequality. For this reason, a brief introduction is made to know the roots of the problem. Below, the theoretical basis on integrals, with their properties and knowledge for the calculation of areas is exposed. To finish the preliminaries section, Green’s theorem is stated with a key corollary for the proof of the isoperimetric inequality. Finally, the isoperimetric inequality is exposed and two proofs are presented, a rigorous one proposed by E. Schmidt and the other one, with more intuitive geometric ideas, which was formulated by J. Steiner.
