Fotoperiodismo en redes sociales: Tendencias, usos y funciones

Abstract

La fotografía se ha convertido en una pieza clave en la información periodística en los últimos años por la facilidad para distribuirla a través de las redes sociales. Esta investigación se centra en el estudio de las tendencias, usos y funciones más importantes del fotoperiodismo en las tres redes sociales más destacadas en la actualidad: Instagram, Facebook y Twitter. En concreto, el estudio escoge a seis autores de referencia a nivel mundial en este ámbito: Daniel Berehulak, Manu Brabo, Ron Haviv, David Alan Harvey, Randy Olson y Marcus Bleasdale. Todos ellos utilizan los medios sociales para exponer su trabajo y experiencias profesionales. La metodología empleada combina técnicas del análisis de contenido cuantitativo y cualitativo de las imágenes y textos publicados por estos autores en estas plataformas durante un año. En total se analizan 3.186 unidades, que son posts en sus perfiles de las tres redes sociales. El objetivo es conocer los usos y funciones que los fotoperiodistas asignan a las redes sociales, la frecuencia de actualización, el grado de interacción con sus seguidores y analizar la calidad técnica y significados de las fotografías que publican.

Photography is one essential piece in journalism world thanks to easy way to share it in the net. This research is focus on trends, uses and functions about the most important social nets nowadays: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Concretely, the research reports six great authors in the area of social nets: Daniel Berehulak, Manu Brabo, Ron Haviv, David Alan Harvey, Randy Olson and Marcus Bleasdale. All of them are using the social nets to show people their work and own experiences. The methodology combines technical analysis of quantitative and qualitative content of the images and texts published by these authors in these social networks during 1 year. Around 3.186 unities are analyzed in this research, so this number shows all the post published by the authors in their profiles of their social networks. That’s why the research pretends to know how to use the social nets by professional photojournalists. Including refresh rate, the level of interaction with followers and how to analyze the technical quality and meanings of their images published.
