Abstract

Objective: The main goal of this study is to examine the influence of different attachment styles in the development of schizophrenia. Material and Methods: Short version of CaMir questionnaire (CaMir-R) is used to assess attachment in a sample of 20 adults, 10 belonging to clinical sample (M age=33,30) and 10 belonging to control sample (M age=32,80). Additionally, the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANNS) for Schizoprenia is applied to evaluate the control sample. An innovative aspect of this study is that we used a sample with a superior average age than the shortened and adapted version of CaMir test. Results: After a comparison and analysis of the scores obtained in the CaMir-R test, we find a significant difference (t=2,23; p=.039) in child trauma dimension. Besides, the evaluation of the symptomatology of the clinical group by means of the PANSS Scale determined a greater negative symptoms. Conclusion: Despite the small size of the sample, our findings of the study support the idea that some dimensions of the style of insecure attachment are related to the development of schizophrenia. Primarily, childhood trauma.
