Abstract

Since the 80s it’s common to start to talk about infotainment. Infotainment is a concept from the United Kingdom and it merges as a trend that seeks to engage the audience with a specific treatment of news as the use of soft news, a non-linear montage looking for dynamism and the maximum approach to the viewer. Thought it cost to arrive to Spain, when the infotainment came the TV stations started to copy the way that the news are made in order to achieve the same success than the European TV stations had. The next step was to conquer the sporting news because the sports are very important in the TV schedule. On this basis, this investigation is based on the analysis of 299 news of Deportes Cuatro, the sporting news leader in Spain, in order to know if they use infotainment style to be the leaders. The main target of this study is to find out the main features of sporting infotainment, to prove that Deportes Cuatro is an infotainment show. Also, one goal is to be the inspiration for future investigations in this way.
