Análise de preditores biopsicossociais da saúde física e mental de atletas e ex-atletas de patinagem artística

Abstract

A aplicação do modelo biopsicossocial no desporto tem-se revelado essencial para compreender de forma mais completa o bem-estar dos praticantes ao longo da sua carreira atlética. No entanto, modalidades como a patinagem artística permanecem pouco exploradas na investigação, sobretudo no que respeita à experiência de atletas e ex-atletas. Este estudo teve como objetivos: (a) caracterizar o perfil de atletas e ex-atletas portugueses de patinagem artística; (b) comparar os seus perfis biopsicossociais; e (c) analisar o contributo de variáveis biopsicossociais na explicação da saúde física e mental. A amostra foi composta por 184 participantes (68 atletas, M = 21.02 anos; DP = 7.84; e 116 ex-atletas, M = 32.78 anos; DP = 14.35), maioritariamente do sexo feminino. Foram recolhidos dados sociodemográficos e de caracterização, bem como medidas de identidade atlética, suporte social e saúde física e mental. Os resultados permitiram traçar um perfil biopsicossocial destes praticantes, evidenciando trajetos desportivos iniciados precocemente e uma forte ligação à modalidade. Os atletas apresentaram níveis mais elevados de identidade atlética, enquanto os ex-atletas revelaram melhores indicadores de desempenho físico, envolvimento social e bem-estar psicológico. Em ambos os grupos, a saúde mental foi significativamente explicada por variáveis relacionais, como a intimidade e a satisfação com a família. Estes resultados reforçam a importância das relações interpessoais para o bem-estar psicológico dos atletas e ex-atletas e, através da compreensão do seu perfil biopsicossocial, contribuem para orientar futuras investigações nesta população.
