Abstract

The effects of a specific stimulus on the sensory system have been extensively studied in various research areas, such as the influence of sensory stimuli, such as sounds and noises, on the sensory system of the reader in the context of multisensory books. In other words, once stimulated, readers need to access the meaning of a particular word to read it more quickly or easily. For example, after hearing the sound of a bark, will a reader be able to access the word dog more quickly? And if the heard sound is white noise, does it have any effect on the word being read? In this study, we used the Cloze task to examine the influence of auditory stimuli on the lexical access of words in Brazilian Portuguese. Additionally, as a contribution and outcome of this research, a sound database was created and made available for use in scientific research
