The Liar’s Paradox is a coming-of-age story about a boy and his mother. It follows Sam, the narrator, over the course of 30 years, from major Canadian city to major Canadian city, exploring the mosaic of racism, systemic oppression, and genocide, as he forms his identity as a young man. Through relationships in each city, he comes to see that his past, present, and future are entangled with others in heartening and terrifying ways. Recognizing that his life is built on a foundation of lies, just as his country is, leaves him grappling for a sure hold. When he comes to see that the struggle itself is his truth, he is finally able to take a deep breath of relief.
