Prosodia y cuantificación en discursos orales espontáneos

Abstract

n order to contribute to the development of the phonological - pragmatic interface, this work focuses on the analysis of the prosodic features of quantity, intensity and tone as features contribuiting to de gree intensive quantification. The alternation of these prosodic feature s with other grammatical procedures led to wonder about the motivation of speaker s to use them independently or combined . Methodologically, a sample was selected of conversational, des criptive, narrative and argumentative spoken texts , taken from the digital corpus Voces sanjuaninas : an oral corpus of Argentine Spanish, availabel at http://www.voces.ffha.unsj.edu.ar/ . To achieve greater o bjectivity in the analysis of the prosodic features the soundwave was measured using Speech a nalyzer 3.1 . Various procedures were described, according 3 to the possibility of combination, their enhancement function ( quantity or quality of the weighted entity) and the syntactic word class of the w ord they quantify. This description allowed to observe the flexibility of the prosodic features and also facilitated the categorization of procedures of quantification in a continuum. The r esults showed that prosodic f eatures are simpler, more flexible and more ubiquitous than the grammatical elementes , being hence considered the unmarked options for intensification. Subsequently, a qualitativ e and quantitative study of prosodic features use motivation was conducted . To do this, the contexts were identified, in which this procedure alternat ed with canonica l grammatical elements . Thu s, the four discourse types were analysed and the results show a greater presence of prosodic features in conversational spoken texts
