The present article analyzes the so called Cave of the Monk, placed near Guadix (Granada). The absence of information about his origin and occupation has been supplanted traditionally by the legend, according to which, this place was occupied by a monk during the Mozarabic epoch. Probably under the legend there exists some historical background that points at this eremitic medieval stage.
El presente artículo analiza la llamada Cueva del Monje, situada cerca de Guadix (Granada). La ausencia de información sobre su origen y ocupación se ha suplido tradicionalmente con la leyenda, según la cual, este lugar estuvo ocupado por un monje durante la época mozárabe. Probablemente bajo la leyenda exista algún trasfondo histórico que apunte a esa etapa eremítica medieval.
