Arte y escultura sonora. Del sonido como objeto al objeto sonoro

Arte y escultura sonora. Del sonido como objeto al objeto sonoro

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The encounter of “sounds and visuals” finds its origin in two different practices which comprise sound art and sound sculptures. The first of these favors the auditory aspects proposing intangible works; the second produces sculptures, machines or objects whose material components emit sounds. This article’s main objective is to understand the elements that allow the integration of sound into sculptures, and the uses that this practice creates in doing so. An emphasis is put on specific examples of artists and their works that use movement to produce noises and sounds that introduce dynamic immaterial phenomenon such as time and rhythm.
