Abstract: As opposed to the lineal and reductionist paradigm of their creation, participative guarantee systems benefit from an organizational scheme featuring: soundness of principles but flexibility of rules, horizontality to ensure stakeholders’ participation, and consideration for environmental and human diversity. Always conceived as an exchange of experiences and knowledge, they are in fact a social building process. This design, their systemic approach, as well as being open to coevolution processes, makes them usefull as a tool to apply agroecological strategies upon territories.
