Arte urbano y espacio público

Abstract

La renovación del arte, tal y como declaró André Gide, pasa por la búsqueda de nuevas formas de enlazar los conceptos de «base», «tierra» y «pueblo». Hoy en día muchas de estas expectativas se encuentran puestas en el arte público ya que plantea nuevas formas de conjugar espacio, territorio y público. Ahora bien, en la época de la globalización estos términos son cuando menos difíciles de determinar repercutiendo, por extensión, en la propia definición de «arte público». El texto aborda las dificultades del arte público para distinguirse de otras prácticas públicas lúdicas y para lograr la concreción fáctica de una obra de arte destinada al público en general. Así mismo estudia las condiciones para que la práctica artística se convierta en un privilegiado lugar de encuentro de distintas capas y clases de ciudadanos en interacción con el urbanismo, la arquitectura y las artes plásticas.
