Euphemism and dysphemism have been looked at from different perspectives. However, these points of view are characterised by the fact that they provide a limited view of these two phenomena, problem that pragmatic and cognitive studies have tried to remedy with greater or lesser sucess. The present essay has the purpose of making a theorical approach to the euphemism and dysphemism, that will be accompanied by the analysis of a corpus of Tweets written during the covid-19 pandemic, where it will be studied the effect of the euphemistic and dysphemistic processes on an interdict reality, such as the death.

El eufemismo y el disfemismo han sido analizados desde diferentes ópticas. Sin embargo, tales enfoques se caracterizan por ofrecer una visión parcial de estos dos fenómenos, problema que estudios de índole pragmática y cognitiva han intentado subsanar con mayor o menor acierto. El presente trabajo tiene como fin realizar una aproximación teórica al eufemismo y el disfemismo, que se verá acompañado del análisis de un corpus de tuits escritos durante la pandemia de covid-19, en el que se estudiará el efecto de los procesos eufemísticos y disfemísticos sobre una realidad interdicta como es la muerte.
