Creencias y síntomas depresivos : resultados preliminares en el desarrollo de una Escala de Creencias Irracionales abreviada.

Abstract

En este estudio se evaluaron las propiedades de medida de una versión reducida del TCI (Test de Creencias Irracionales, Jones, 1968) y del CES-D (Escala de Depresión del Centro para Estudios Epidemiológicos, Radloff, 1977) así como la asociación entre ambas variables que se deriva desde la teoría de la Terapia Racional Emotiva (Ellis, 1962). Con este fin 568 estudiantes universitarios cumplimentaron el TCI y el CES-D. Los análisis factoriales (LISREL8) confirmaron una estructura de ocho factores para el TCI abreviado (Necesidad de Aprobación, Altas autoexpectativas, Culpabilización, Control emocional, Evitación de problemas, Dependencia de los demás, Indefensión acerca del cambio y Perfeccionismo) y una estructura de cuatro factores de primer orden (Afecto depresivo, Falta de Afecto positivo, Disminución psicomotora y Dificultades interpersonales ) junto con un factor de segundo orden para el CES-D. La adecuación fue buena para el CES-D pero únicamente moderada para el TCI. Finalmente se estimó un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales entre las creencias irracionales y la depresión. De acuerdo con este modelo, las creencias de Necesidad de Aprobación por parte de los demás, Perfeccionismo e Indefensión acerca del cambio se asocian a los síntomas depresivos.
