Abstract

Podranea ricasoliana (Tanfani) Sprague is a species used as ornamental, for its abundant flowering and showy, especially in fences. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of different concentrations of indol-3-butyric acid (IBA) in budding and survival of softwood cuttings of P. ricasoliana. Cuttings of different sizes and with a pair of leaves were collected in the city of Porto Alegre-RS, being the basis of these placed in contact with the AIB treatment powder (0, 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 mg kg-1). After the cuttings were placed in trays with carbonized rice shell substrate, which were kept in a protected environment with intermittent mist. The experimental design was a randomized block with five repetitions and ten cuttings per share. Data were submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA). No statistical differences were found for any of the evaluations. It has been found average percentage of early budding of 70,8%, a percentage of remaining sheets of 75,2%, average number of shoots per cutting of 1,28, average percentage survival of cutting of 87,6%, average percentage of rooted cuttings of 45,2% and average length of the root system of 5,06 cm. It is concluded that the use of cuttings for vegetative propagation of P. ricasoliana species is viable. Furthermore, it was found that the use of IBA does not affect the variables analyzed.
