Gênero e políticas sociais : novos condicionamentos sobre a estrutura familiar

Abstract

In this research, the relations between family and social policies in Brazil, in genre perspective, are analyzed. Data are presented about family structure and women's work. Mostly, the article focuses the question of the burden on women concerning the responsibility with their dependents, supposing the existence of a deficit in the public services related to the necessities of the family reproduction offered by the government. By identifying the new tendencies in the constitution of genre relations and of the government's actions, characterizing the situation of women in the health and education area, one aims to contribute for the reflection of the social determinations of the families' welfare. The importance of women's participation in the construction of a more equitable division of gender work, in which male domination, stereotypes and genre discriminations are continually reduced, in the "public space" as well as in the "domestic sphere".
