Abstract

We accept that environmental problematic can be known by most of the society, and reach people of all ages and (in) formation levels, trough the media. Comic strips, in the case of this study, are considered a very important medium for the information, meaning production and sensitizing children, young and old people. In the present study, we attempted to analyze the contents related to the environmental thematic that are part of the plot of Mauricio de Souza’s comic strips, and its importance as a diffuser of opinions, knowledge, representations and concepts on the fi eld of environmental science. These concepts can be explicit or implicit in the content of the comic strips with environmental thematic, so we attempted as well to show which are the main means of communication (images, words and signs) used in this space, that aim sensitizing the reader.
