This paper is an analysis of the Literature questions in the Brazilian High School Examination between the years of 1998 and 2010. The work consisted in surveying which authors and literature books of literature are required in the Literature, Language, Human Sciences, Arts, and Humanities questions. After that, the authors, literary periods and genres that were the most recurrent were identified so that we could then estimate the percentage of questions at Enem which demand a formal study of Literature at school, which ends up becoming a consistent diagnosis of the test and the symptom of a future to be avoided.
