O estudo realizado consistiu em compreender e verificar se e de que forma a qualidade da diferenciação do self de um individuo se relaciona com a qualidade de uma relação amorosa. A amostra é constituída por 145 indivíduos com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 45 anos de idade, de ambos os géneros, de nacionalidade portuguesa e numa situação de relacionamento amoroso heterossexual no momento da participação. Para concretização desta instigação foi necessária a utilização de dois inventários, Couple Relationship Inventory e Inventário de Diferenciação do Self. Os resultados deste estudo demonstram que o nível de diferenciação do self de um individuo interfere positivamente na qualidade das suas relações amorosas, e que, quanto ao género, os homens revelam ser mais diferenciados e satisfeitos na sua relação. Concluiu-se que os níveis de diferenciação do self estão positivamente relacionados com as variáveis “duração da relação atual”, “relacionamentos anteriores”, “estado civil” e “filhos”, e negativamente relacionados com a variável “idade”. Quanto à satisfação de casal, percebeu-se que está positivamente relacionada com as variáveis “duração da relação atual” e “relacionamentos anteriores” e negativamente relacionada com “idade”, “estado civil” e “filhos”; The "I" and "you" as "we": the role of the Self differentiation on loving relationship quality Abstract: The study carried out consisted of understanding and verifying if and how the quality of the individual's differentiation is related to the quality of a loving relationship. The sample is verified by 145 individuals aging between 18 and 45 years old, of both genders, of Portuguese nationality and in a situation of heterosexual love relationship at the time of the query. To carry out this instigation it was necessary to use two inventories, Inventory of Relationship of Couples and Inventory of Differentiation of the Self. The results of this study demonstrate that the level of differentiation of an individual's self interferes positively in the quality of their love relationships, and that, in terms of gender, men reveal to be more differentiated and satisfied in their relationship. It was concluded that the levels of self differentiation are positively related to the variables “duration of the current relationship”, “previous relationships”, “marital status” and “children”, and negatively related to the variable “age”. As for couple satisfaction, it is seen that it is positively related to the variables "duration of the current relationship" and "previous relationships" and negatively related to "age", "marital status" and "children".
