- ABSTRACT: The radiocarbon dating, since its first practical application in the late years of 1950, have contributed an enormous contribution to archaeological research. This is a feature often used in archaeological research, particularly as regards the chronology of relaying archaeological contexts, and, in general, is permitted to place in an absolute time, human activity in the past. This paper aims, in essence, provide an updated list of all the radiocarbon dates obtained for archaeological contexts in Portugal. Given the constant revision and updating of the calibration curves to calibrate the radiocarbon dates and make them consistent with our timetable or solar calendar, was also carried out a calibration date of all dates obtained. It was also an elaborate historical review on the progress of research on radiocarbon and some brief comments on the dates obtained and their contexts and most important archaeological sites of the Portuguese territory.
