Abstract

Prólogo “… O Papa João XXI mandou a um médico seu chamado Juliano, homem muito sábio experimentado em Medicina, que fizesse um tratado breve delas, para que os homens soubessem curar sem médico, donde não houvera, e houvera muita necessidade. O qual por servir a sua santidade, serviço de Deus, e por bem dos próximos, procurou quantos Doutores e Mestres havia em Medicina naquele tempo, em que houve cinquenta seis doutores, …” “… eu Mestre Juliano, crendo firme e verdadeiramente, e confiando na mercê do meu Senhor Deus, e com tua santa ajuda, entendo fazer e acabar este livro, e pôr nele a doutrina medicinal, que os Sábios e Mestres em Medicina encontraram, provaram e experimentaram, e deixaram aos vivos que a quiseram usar e aprenderem doutrina, a qual se chama o Tesouro dos Pobres…”.
